Byng Warrant Checks
For any Byng ordinance, traffic, or municipal criminal citation, Byng Municipal Court is where the answer lives. The office sits at 110 Byng Avenue, Ada, Oklahoma 74820. Call 580-436-2545 or write to byngclerk@byngok.com. Doors are open Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday is closed. When you reach the clerk, have the ticket or case number handy along with the name exactly as printed. Ask straight out whether a missed date produced a bench warrant, whether the court demands full payment, and whether the judge must sign off on a new date or plan. The Pontotoc Sheriff can help with service or custody, but that office cannot recall a Byng case. Only the city court can do that.
- Call the Byng clerk with the citation number.
- Ask for the current warrant, amount, court date, and recall rule.
- Confirm whether a payment plan has judge approval.
- Use the payment portal only after the clerk verifies the court and amount.
- Call again to confirm recall and the next required appearance.
Policing and Courts in Byng
Byng's municipal court is a court not of record, handling civil, criminal, administrative, and traffic matters inside town limits. The public staff page lists the clerk, judge, and prosecutor in their court roles. For any ticket, continuance, payment plan, or bench-warrant question, the clerk is the one to call.

County service or custody fallback
State-court records, plus OHP or Sheriff citations, go through the county Court Clerk at 100 W. 13th Street, not the Byng office.
Warrants in Byng: The Main Types
Most Byng cases are traffic tickets, ordinance matters, and failure-to-appear process. A state criminal arrest or bench warrant is different. That is a District Court record. The city judge controls the city warrant even when county deputies serve it.
| Type | How it begins | Record holder |
|---|---|---|
| Traffic warrant | Unpaid Byng citation or missed date | Byng Municipal Court |
| Municipal bench warrant | Failure to appear or follow an order | Byng clerk and judge |
| Payment-plan issue | Plan requested without judge approval | Byng Municipal Court |
| District Court warrant | State criminal process | County Court Clerk and Sheriff |
Byng Court Dates and Warrant Timing
The court's own site posts a monthly 2026 calendar of dates. If you cannot make yours, call the clerk, who will take the request to the municipal judge for a new date. Skip that step and the FAQ warns of consequences: a suspended license, a bench warrant, and extra fines or fees. These are Byng rules, not countywide ones. A date on a calendar proves nothing about whether a warrant is active. Confirm with the clerk first.
Byng Warrant Records: What They Show
A Byng file can hold the ticket or case number, the violation, its date, the amount due, and any court instruction. It may also show payment-plan status, a missed appearance, the warrant event, and any recall action. The public payment form is not the full court file.
| Case number | Ticket, citation, docket, or case identifier. |
|---|---|
| Jurisdiction | Byng Municipal Court, or a District Court if the case is state process. |
| Warrant trigger | Missed setting, unpaid citation, or court-order issue. |
| Payment | Amount and whether a full-payment or approved-plan rule applies. |
| Status | Warrant, paid, recalled, served, or another court entry. |
Byng’s Full-Payment Recall Rule
Byng's court states its rule plainly: a bench warrant must be paid in full before it is recalled. Online partial payment works only when a payment plan is already in place. To get a plan, you generally must appear and ask the judge. This is a local rule, so do not assume it applies in Ada, Stonewall, Allen, or Roff. Call 580-436-2545 before you enter any amount online. The clerk can confirm the right court, the ticket, the balance, and whether the record is recalled after the transaction.
Byng Payment Portal Details
The TrafficPayment form asks for your first and last name, driver's-license number and state, and ticket or case number. You then enter the payment amount, pick how the six-digit passcode is delivered, type the code, and finish the CAPTCHA. Another citation can be added in the same session. The portal itself warns you to choose the right court and the right amount.
Before paying: Confirm with the Byng clerk that the amount is correct and that the payment will recall the specific warrant.
Save the payment confirmation and call the court after you submit. An online transaction does not dismiss the case or excuse the next court date.
Byng Warrant Records and Tribal Routing
Byng's FAQ includes a routing instruction for Native American ticket recipients. Present a CDIB or tribal-enrollment card to the clerk, who sends the matter to the proper tribal jurisdiction. That rule belongs to Byng alone, not to other Pontotoc cities. The court's not-of-record status has another effect: a Byng matter may not appear in OSCN or ODCR. A county report cannot replace the Byng clerk's confirmation.
Byng Warrants and Pontotoc County
Byng counted 1,393 residents in the 2020 Census, making it the second-largest incorporated place in the county ranking. Its city court sits in Ada but stays a municipal venue. Service or custody help comes from the Sheriff, while the County Court Clerk handles state citations and District Court cases. The Pontotoc County warrant records overview explains when to shift from the city court to county and state channels. Until the clerk confirms a recall, keep a Byng ticket with Byng.
Clearing a Byng Warrant
Start with a call to the clerk. Ask what the court needs: full payment, a judge-approved plan, a continuance, a new appearance, or counsel. Under the published rule, full payment is the recall path for a bench warrant unless an approved plan applies. Ask when the court and the serving agency will update their records.
Keep proof: Save the receipt, the confirmation number, and the next court date. Payment may recall the warrant while the case remains open.
Accessing Byng Warrant Records
The Oklahoma Open Records Act sets the general framework, though juvenile, sealed, and protected records may be restricted. Ask the Byng clerk for an existing court record, along with the current fee and how the response arrives. Byng publishes no active-warrant roster, and there is no countywide municipal warrant database.
Useful law: Oklahoma Open Records Act and Title 10A juvenile rules.
Byng Warrant Records: Next Call
Hit a snag with a Byng ticket? Call the office that holds the file. The clerk handles rejected payments and wrong amounts, while the Sheriff takes questions about county service, and a citation from OHP or the county Sheriff belongs with the Pontotoc Court Clerk. No single Byng office can vouch for every venue, though each will confirm its own case.
Byng Public Access Limits
A blank search does not clear you. In Byng, an empty online result can stem from the court-of-no-record setup, a fresh entry, a sealed file, or a payment screen that never shows warrant status. Check with Byng Municipal Court directly. A missing row on OSCN, ODCR, or the Sheriff report proves nothing about the warrant.
